Growing up, we were told that obtaining a college degree would be the key to unlocking our ideal career path. However, for many, finding a job after graduation has proven to be a time-consuming and complicated experience. With countless opportunities to choose from, the prospect of determining your professional trajectory can feel daunting. In short, what we assumed to be a simple task has now turned into a very complex and frustrating challenge.
After graduating from college, I was at a loss and disillusioned by the job market. Through persistence, discipline, and execution of processes, I secured an analyst role at Oaktree Capital, a global investment management firm. Over time, I “climbed the corporate ladder” to Assistant Vice President, where I managed my own team of portfolio analysts & associates and served as the global co-head of recruitment for our department. This invaluable experience exposed me to the intricate understanding of what hiring managers are looking for and gave me the opportunity to analyze and assess hundreds of resumes, interview hundreds of candidates, and successfully negotiate promotions and salaries.
After six years at Oaktree Capital, I joined a subsidiary of one of our portfolio companies, Rihanna's Savage X Fenty. There, I served as a Sr. Financial Analyst, leading the build-out of the company's inaugural brick-and-mortar locations. Alongside my core finance duties, I garnered immense satisfaction from providing guidance and counsel to those navigating their professional journey.
My passion for mentoring and coaching stemmed from a deep understanding of the challenges and uncertainties of trying to find and land a job. I came to recognize that the knowledge and skills I've acquired over the years carry significant weight and hold the potential to be of great service to those in need.
After a decade in corporate and start-up environments, I pivoted to building my own practice and helping to develop the next generation of talent.
